The Event

The Maine McDonald's® High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games is a salute to top senior student-athletes basketball standouts and coaches from across Maine. More than 100 individuals are honored for their achievements both on and off the basketball court at the All-Star Banquet on Friday night, March 14, and at the Games on Saturday, March 15. Net proceeds from the two-day event go to the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Maine.

McDonald's Role

The 2008 program marks McDonald's twentieth consecutive year as lead sponsor of this hallmark event.   In addition to underwriting the cost of planning and executing the event, the Maine McDonald's Owner/Operator Association, a collaboration of 16 local Maine McDonald's franchisees, works hand-in-hand with the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches and several sponsors to make the event possible.

MAINE McDONALD’S® HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR ALL-STAR BASKETBALL GAMES RAISES $18,500 FOR RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES® OF MAINE

BANGOR, Maine (April 15, 2008) – Organizers of the 2008 Maine McDonald’s® High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games announced today that the tournament raised a total of $18,500 for Ronald McDonald House Charities ® of Maine. This represents the largest donation in the 20-year history of McDonald’s sponsorship of the hallmark tournament. This year’s event was held at Husson College in Bangor on March 14 and 15 and honored more than 100 student-athletes from more than 60 high schools across Maine.

“Thank you to everyone– student-athletes and their families, organizers and sponsors - who came together to make this year’s event so extremely successful. This donation will go a long way in helping Ronald McDonald House Charities reach out to Maine’s children in need,” states Sheila Peabody, President of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maine.  “This is fabulous news as we have never come close to this amount. I'm looking forward to next year already!”
